Mara Game Reserve

The classic dawn flight people picture when they imagine a balloon over Africa — the open plains north of the Mara River, the Musiara Marsh, and the long view toward the Siria Escarpment. Pilots fly low when the wind allows, then climb to find the next layer. You may see resident plains game, and in dry-season months herds drawn to the river — every sighting is conditional on weather, light, and the herds' own movement that morning. Balloons have flown this sector since the 1970s.
